Welcome to AR Own Backyard, my personal site that is all about outdoor adventures in Arkansas. Whether you are a seasoned pro that is new to the area, or a novice looking to get into hiking, cycling, kayaking, etc, this site is a place for you to find the information you need to get started.
We have pages of information related to hiking, cycling, paddling, and zip-lining in Arkansas, with tons of links to some really helpful sites that others have put together to give you everything you need to plan an outdoor excursion in our beautiful state. My goal for these pages is to provide useful information for outdoor enthusiasts that are interested in Hiking, Paddling, Biking, and Zip Lining in Arkansas….particularly for people that may be new to one of these activities and are not sure where to start. Or for those with experience that may not be familiar with the state of Arkansas, but want to get out there and explore.
I am by no means an expert at any ONE of these things. I’m a jack-of-all-trades type that does a little bit of ALL these things. So my pages are not intended to be an all-inclusive vault of information, but simply a starting point. Most of the information found here could easily be found via Google search, followed by hours of reading and filtering through all of the information out there. Being an avid hiker, paddler, mountain biker, road cyclist (and an occasional zip line), I have already done this leg work while planning my own excursions.(You’re welcome!) The vast amount of information online can be a little overwhelming. AROwnBackyard.com brings you the BEST links to the most useful information, and presents it in a more organized manner. Other outdoor enthusiasts have put in a lot of hard work to produce some really great online resources. Instead of reinventing the wheel, I’m simply directing you to the best sources. These are the sites I use when I plan a hike, ride, or float.
Most of all, I enjoy writing about my own excursions in my Blog. These posts have detailed information about specific hikes, floats, rides and other topics. So check that out! And feel free to leave us some comments after the blog posts!
